About Loved One Check In

A small, family-owned business that built a simple SMS check-in service for the people we love — before our own family ever needed it.

Hi, I’m Chris Bennett — and I spent the last year building Loved One Check In before my family ever needed it.

It started with a worry a lot of us share. Every year, elderly people living on their own pass away and aren’t found for days. My parents are in their 70s and thriving — but “thriving now” isn’t “thriving forever.” My daughter lives with seizures and is growing toward living on her own. Three people I love, and the same quiet question every day: are they alright?

I couldn’t find something simple — a daily check-in that would alert me if a loved one didn’t respond — so I built it. It took a year, and the goal the whole time was to keep it simple: no cameras, no wearables, nothing for your loved one to learn. Before I’d ever offer it to your family, friends and family used it with theirs — real check-ins with their own parents and loved ones, telling me what worked and what didn’t.

Loved One Check In is family-owned, and I’m here for the long run.

My wife Michele helps run Loved One Check In with me — testing the product, shaping the user experience, and acting as our product owner.

While I’m head-down in the code, Michele has been the one asking the questions I’d stopped asking myself — the kind of practical, everyday questions that lead to better decisions. A lot of the rough edges got smoothed out because of her.

As we roll Loved One Check In out to more families, she’ll be even more involved on the product and customer side.

What we believe

Care should feel supportive — not invasive. Technology should serve people, not overwhelm them.

Staying connected to aging parents, relatives, or loved ones shouldn’t require intrusive technology, constant phone calls, or complicated apps. Life gets busy, distances grow, and daily check-ins aren’t always possible — but peace of mind should always be within reach.

Our service uses familiar, easy-to-use text messaging to gently check in with your loved one on a schedule you choose. If they respond, everything is good. If they don’t, you’re notified so you can follow up personally. No cameras. No wearables. No complicated setup — just a respectful, human-centered approach to caring.

As a family-run business, we understand the responsibility that comes with trust. We designed this service to be something we’d confidently use for our own families. That means prioritizing reliability, privacy, and clear communication at every step.
